Vanished - Canada's Missing Women - this half hour documentary was first broadcast on SBS Televisions Dateline and Viceland programs. I helped set up, then directed, co-wrote and post produced this half hour documentary that explores why the homicide rate of indigenous women in Canada is so high and the steps Canadians and the government are taking to address the violence expereinced by indigenous women. In the film, we spent time with Winnipeg police, filmed working women on the streets of Winnipeg late at night where serial killers frequented, spent time with indienous communities and families of missing women and spoke to indigenous female leaders about how overcoming racism and power dynamics is the key to turning around indigenous homicide. The story one a Walkley Award for our reporter Laura Murphy Oates.
